The next best thing...

Although I failed to find "Bah Humbug" in neon lights, I did come across these in Sainsbury's...

Charles Dickens must be spinning in his sepulchre...

  1. Writing it like that makes it an obvious anagram for "BAH BUM HUG".

  2. I'd rather have a bum hug than a humbug. Who wouldn't?

  3. Hi Gorilla Bananas and welcome! Not so sure about the Bum Hug. Don't say it too loudly, The Shah may be listening....

  5. Sarah - I love the fact that they're on sale in the first place!

  6. I should think Mr Dickens has been spinning in his crypt for quite a whiley thinking of all the royalities he's lost over the years from not trademarking Christmas

  7. Father Christmas recently purchased a little box with the same missive on the lid and containing the appropriate sweeties. He's looking forward to hearing Husband laugh!

  8. Macy - C. Dickens Esq was indeed a numbskull of the greatest magnitude. Fancy not being able to foresee that the value of retail sales in the 168 years since he wrote his miserable book would have risen to approximately £37billion....

HF - I could do with some of those as I define Bah Humbug and am inclined to hurl stale mince pies at rosy-cheeked carol singers who darken my doorstep.

  9. I'll have to go through all the usual suspects to get their sayings and sell them. Do you think I could make my millions on this? Mind you I'm such a Bah Humbug (all one word) person...

  10. Now that surprises me, Jody. I would have thought that some of that American gung-ho attitude for the "holidays" (vile term) would have rubbed off on you after all those years living in the US?!

  11. Do they do a Ho Sodding Ho one too? :D
